Podcast Toolkit

An in-depth how-to for producing your first podcast!

Starting a podcast?

Aren’t we all?

The problem is that most of us have never done anything like “start a podcast” before. It can feel overwhelming and confusing just to get the idea off the ground.

This toolkit is a booklet with explanations and checklists focused on the actual process of podcast production: equipment, production, audio processing, and distribution.

You know: the important stuff!

How is this Toolkit different?

Because it is focused on facts, just the facts, ma’am!*

I’m sure you’ve watched a lot of how-to videos or even paid for courses claiming that they will teach you to, you know, DO THE THING, only to be left with an idea of what you need to do but no real instructions on HOW.

I’m sure you got a lot of great advice on choosing your topic, and buying the “right” (usually expensive) equipment, and marketing your podcast on facebook or youtube or tiktok.

…leaving you with the question you started with:

How do you DO THE THING?

I was in your shoes and ended up created a quick checklist of things I had to do to make a podcast. Nothing fancy, just the basic steps I went through, mostly so I had a reference sheet to refer back to as I learned new things.

I was in an online forum where others were going through the same process, so I shared my lists with them, writing out explanations in more detail. Someone suggested that this was information a lot of people were looking for, and so the Podcast Toolkit was born!

* I’m old enough to worry about the fact that people may not realize that’s a reference to the old t.v. show, Dragnet!

Enough already, gimme the Podcast Toolkit!

Only for People who are Ready to Record!

This is NOT a touchy-feely guide that will help you decide on your topic or walk you through the process of deciding to do a podcast.

But! If you are ready to buy equipment, sit down, and record a podcast but aren’t sure what you need to do first, or what software you might need, or even find yourself confused about the process of “distribution”, then this is the toolkit for you.

Also checklists!

At the end of the toolkit are multiple checklists for you to use to map out your podcast journey! Included are a master checklist, and initial recording/processing checklist, checklists for intro/outro recordings, and even a sample podcast tracking sheet that you can copy or print out or use to creat your own spreadsheet!

A Way Forward with Your Podcasting Plans!

Don’t let the question “What do I do next????” slow you down. This toolkit is a simple, easy reference guide for you to get started. It covers all those pesky details that other podcasting guides fail to talk about, such as how to do sound processing and how to plan and schedule regular podcasts.
