Who is the Task Mistress?

KimBoo York, that's who!

Years of Experience

My name is KimBoo York (she/her), and I have years (read: decades) of experience getting shit done. Usually that has been for other people in jobs where I worked as a project manager, documentation writer, or just “that person you go to for help.”

How Does that Help You?

My superpower is being able to break down processes into actionable steps!

I know, that doesn’t sound special, does it? But how many “how-to” guides have you downloaded that were 90% hype and 10% how?

…yeah, me too.

So…?

My first toolkit was for podcasting, and it started on a scratch pad. I was not getting actual guidance on how to actually produce an actual podcast, so I waded into the waters and took notes as I want along.

Step. By. Step.

I ended up with a task list of easy steps to follow, and when a friend needed help starting her own podcast, she asked if I had any advice to give a newbie. DID I???? You betcha.

I sent her the checklist. She emailed me back the same day thanking me and at the end of the email said, “Other people need this.”

I think she was right, and I appreciate that she pointed that out.

Oops I did it again

Along the way, I also created checklists for online course creation and how to build a website. None of my toolkits are very techy — they won’t tell you how to code a website from scratch, or all the inside tricks of using Audacity for sound engineering.

What my toolkits are designed to do comes from my project management background: if you don’t know what you need to do, you can’t hire the people to do it.

I focus on the steps of the process. Do you need a website developer? An audio engineer? A videographer? Maybe! Once you read over a Task Mistress toolkit, you will be able to decide for yourself what you can do, and what you need to hire out.

No guessing. No hype. Just THE ESSENTIALS!

A Necessary Statement

A quick word on politics and compassion and the struggle for an enlightened society:

I consider myself an intersectional queer feminist who is pro-choice, anti-racist, and a socialist. I am vehemently anti-MAGA and anti-TERF. Black Lives Matter and ACAB. None of that is up for discussion or debate.

If you visit any of my socmed profiles, you will see a lot of support for progressive agendas. If any of these views are an anathema to you, then we were not meant to work together.

I have a more complete SocMed Follow Statement on my personal website.
